This year level 1&2 are being run simultaneously so the same as the old stage one, it’s just that we have created level(level 1) to align ourselves with overseas standards. Ther will be two pass standards, level 1 will mean that you can ski and demo up to an intermediate level and teach learners- and level 2 is that you can demo advance intermediate skiing and teach up to intermediate- we will go through all this on the first day. It’s not too hard
There will not be a Level 3 this year- those wishing to go for the level 3 have to have the stage one or level 2 certificate. We did not have the numbers for a level 3 this year but would like to hold one next year.
Yes the dates for ther course are Monday – Friday (Sep 28-Oct 2). We did this to avoid the large weekend crowds. ( And we here that it snows on Sundays up north so we can have a week of fresh turns???)
For all those interested in the course – what you will get out of it is in short a week long private lesson working on your own skiing and I found that the difference in your own skiing confidence is huge within the 5 days . The whole week is about skiing(and teaching) you will be on the snow nearly the whole week – ther will be some class room time which will be video analyses of your own skiing. Whatever your motivation for taking the course- for yourself to improve your own skiing or step yourself in to a teaching position Its great fun and you will gain a lot.
Feel free to contact me and ask any other questions regarding the course. There are Telemark manuals available through NZSIA web site – you will need one for the course – best to have it a while before- it’s very simple- you will note that it’s a bit retro ( we are writing a new one but it is not finished yet).
We do need you to book and pay for the course though the NZSIA web site. We will run the course with 4 people as a minimum- 5 or more would be better.
Marti (the examiner) and I are looking forward to taking the course. See you all in September.
